Kindle Fire Fix

How to reset your Kindle if the Kindle Fire won’t turn on

The Kindle Fire is one of Amazon’s most successful devices. Claiming an impressive 33% of the android tablet market, the device has undergone various transformations and upgrades ever since it first emerged. It is worth noting though that while the product has mostly attractive positive feedback from the general public, it has also attracted its fair share of problems, chief among the complaints emanating from many corners of the market being the Kindle Fire’s inability to turn on. Simply put there are many cases when a Kindle Fire won’t turn on.

How to Fix a Kindle Fire that will not turn on

Have you ever pulled your kindle fire out to read a book or even check your email, only to find that the device simply will not turn on? Well, you are not alone. This sort of problem is common with the Kindle fire. In fact, Amazon was aware of this problem when they first released the device; this being the reason the Kindle Fire Manual includes instructions on how to fix the problem.

If your Kindle Fire won’t turn on, do not be too quick to discard it or even return it. Just like if an iPad won’t turn on, there are some quick fixes you can use to solve the problem, the most effective being the following.

Reset your Kindle Fire

If your Kindle Fire won’t start, Amazon suggests that you simply reset it. You can do this by holding the power button down for twenty seconds, after which you can try starting the device once more. If this doesn’t work, repeat the process and hold the power button down for a few more seconds.

Hard reset your Kindle Fire if it won’t turn on

If the method above didn’t solve your problem, another solution is to do a hard reset. Hard resets will not work on the Kindle 3.0 or any other model that came after. More importantly, a hard reset will void your warranty, so do not take this step without careful consideration.

To do a hard reset, remove the back cover of the device and locate the battery. Remove it and locate a small hole to the left. Stick a pin into the hole for a few seconds. Then repeat the previous step. Hold the power down for another 30 seconds. Your Kindle Fire should start working soon after.

Recharge your battery

Sometimes the biggest problems have the simplest solutions. If your Kindle Fire won’t turn on, consider the possibility that your battery might be dead. Connect the device to a power source and wait for 15 minutes before attempting to turn it on again.

If this fails, try changing the charging cable. Kindle Fire cables are not exactly popular for their longevity.

Replace your Kindle Fire

In the worst case scenario, you might have to replace your Kindle Fire altogether.

If your Kindle Fire won’t turn on, do not wait too long before contacting Amazon. The company offers a one-year warranty with its devices. If these quick fixes do not solve the problem, make an effort to contact Amazon’s technical support staff before your warranty expires, otherwise, you might have to foot the repair or replacement bill.

Contact a professional

If your Kindle is out of warranty and you still can’t get it to turn on, you might have to contemplate the possibility that it is broken. In such cases, you have no other choice but to contact professional services to have the device repaired.
